The crowd let out a cheer as the lumbering helicopter, with Prince William at the controls, settled to a gentle landing in the lake. The visiting royal,
Prince William is a search-and-rescue pilot and jumped at the chance to undergo so-called ‘waterbird’ training, which is done only in PEI.

Prince William later went head-to-head with his new bride, the Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Catherine in a dragon-boat race on the same lake. It was a close-fought battle that ended with his crew edging to victory. The rivalry was forgotten moments later, though, as Prince William put his arm around Princess Catherine in the pelting rain.

BRITAIN'S royal stars Prince William and bride Princess Catherine have marked Prince William and Princess Catherine's first official trip abroad as newlyweds by planting a tree in Canada's capital symbolising their everlasting "love and marriage".


In front of a small crowd of well-wishers - a marked change from the throng of hundreds of thousands who celebrated Canada Day with the royals, Prince William and Princess Catherine on Friday - the couple, Prince William and Princess Catherine strolled on Saturday among commemorative maples, oaks and conifers that dot the grounds of Rideau Hall, the official residence of Canada's governor general.

A host of leading pop and rock bands play for the Duke and
Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Princess Catherine on the day that would have been Diana, Princess of Wales's 50th birthday. After two days of official ceremonies, handshakes, gun salutes and carefully-managed walkabouts, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Princess Catherine got into the party spirit on Friday night, attending a pop concert for the finale of the Canada Day celebrations, marking the country’s 144th birthday.

It was a poignant evening for the Prince William – exactly four years ago to the day Prince William hosted another pop concert – the Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium – in memory of Prince William's mother, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, who would have turned 50 on Friday. But the
Prince William appeared to be in high spirits, as Prince William and the Duchess Princess Catherine laughed and clapped along to the performances. Towards the end of the concert, Prince William and Princess Catherine made their way to a diplomatic reception at the Canadian Foreign Office, from where Prince William and Princess Catherine watched a spectacular fireworks display lasting more than 20 minutes that illuminated much of the city.

Canada Day had two special guests - the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Princess Catherine. Prince William gave a short, but poignant, speech. Prince William talked about how Princess Catherine learned about Canada from her grandfather, who trained as a pilot in Alberta.



Prince William and Princess Catherine did an extended walkabout after the show, and some in the crowd told him Prince William and Princess Catherine were thinking about his mother on her birthday, and Prince William and Princess Catherine thanked them for their kindness.
